LOGIC Services News UpdateOctober 6, 2011

Noteworthy Updates from LOGIC

It almost seems as though LOGIC has been busier than ever over the last couple of months focusing on the provision of support to its two subsidiary offices in Singapore and Kazakhstan, starting new projects for the big players in construction and engineering, prequalifying for the major resource development projects in Western Australia, and adding new lines of business in a continuous effort to satisfy the demands of an increasingly challenging market.

These strategic developments have inevitably led to the hire of selectively sourced individuals to fill these highly specialised positions within the corporate structure of LOGIC Services. The company has also taken aboard several new field employees bearing some of the load the construction sector has grown accustomed to require. The new hires along with some of the recent but long-in-the-making commercial developments have already contributed significantly to the repertoire LOGIC Services has to offer and is able to deliver to its clients.

NEW HIRES AT LOGIC SERVICES

Head Office

LOGIC Services welcomes Tony Borger as National Resource Manager and Serhat Duman as Electrical Engineer to its head office in Perth, Australia. Their contribution adds new capabilities to LOGIC’s company profile.

Tony’s concentrations centre on establishing an effective human resource framework within the newly devised personnel recruitment division. Tony has a long background in sales and HR, joining LOGIC from ATIVO. The management of LOGIC Services welcomes Tony and looks forward to many value added contributions to the business.

Serhat’s focus will be on the provision of operational engineering support to our site based personnel as well as the provision of engineering and E&I consulting services to our clients. Serhat has over 10 years international experience ranging from such high profile projects as Sakhalin OPF, Russia to Tengiz, Kazakhstan. Serhat’s technical expertise is surely a welcomed addition to LOGIC Services.

LOGIC Services is also proud to announce its taking aboard of its first Work Experience Student, Dirk Van Schwalck at its head office in Australia. Dirk was able to spend two days a week at LOGIC’s warehouse and office facility assisting our Procurement Officer, Jim Earnshaw with daily procurement, logistics, and stores operations as well as tackling stocktake and inventory tasks. Dirk was also fortunate enough to visit a construction site alongside Project Manager Lance Watts. On behalf of the Directors of LOGIC Services, Dirk has been a valuable hand and we wish him all the best with his future development and career.

Singapore Office

LOGIC has expanded its Singapore office in an effort to target the major operators on South East Asian projects. LOGIC welcomes David Hannah as Operations Manager and Matthew Knight as Human Resource Manager.

David’s international experience speaks for itself and having spent years in West Africa and Central Asia with some of the world’s largest companies, he will be the bastion of LOGIC’s Singapore operations.

Matthew comes from a highly successful recruitment background most recently from Kazakhstan. He has been one of the top performers throughout his career and LOGIC looks forward to his contributions as the personnel placement division expands.

CLIENTS UPDATE

LOGIC’s New Service Offerings

The self-assessment and selective restructuring process LOGIC has undergone is already starting to bear fruit as some major clients have already requested the new service offerings. More importantly, LOGIC Services is able to offer some of these new services free-of-charge, which brings an additional comparative advantage to LOGIC’s portfolio.

E&I Consulting

LOGIC Services is now able to offer electrical and instrumentation concept and layout support and electrical engineering consultancy services. In this field, LOGIC’s experienced project management and site supervision team can provide practical insights into feasibilities of current designs and recommend improved courses of action which will result in cost-savings, higher standards of quality, and ease of access and more efficient operations over the life of the project. Here, LOGIC Services prides itself on delivering industrial quality workmanship.

Recruitment Division

LOGIC Services is proud to announce this newly added division in its corporate structure. In Australia, the recruitment division is led by Tony Borger, while in Singapore, Matthew Knight will be responsible. Tony and Matthew are working closely together in order to consolidate their efforts and yet maintaining specialisation on the project demands of the two regions. The purpose of this new division will be to minimise turnaround time for placement of personnel and maximise output in fulfilling client demands for experienced technical roles.

LOGIC has been contracted to carry out the electrical, earthing, instrumentation and communications scope. Since commencement of this project, LOGIC have also been asked to provide its professional expertise to CBI on a consulting basis. This is an example of the LOGIC’s new service offering in working practice.

SBM FPSO Okha: LOGIC Services is pleased to have been an integral part in the development of the FPSO Okha from the Hazardous Area Inspections while still in Singapore’s Keppel Shipyard through to the sea-trials, commissioning phase, and sail-down to Australian territorial waters until finally producing first oil offshore Western Australia’s coast on the North West Shelf.

Tarpon Energy Nigeria: Along with receiving repeat business from some of its longer established clients, LOGIC Services also managed to gain a new client for a project in West Africa. The project was located offshore Nigeria and consisted of delivering high voltage commissioning services aboard a Mobile Offshore Production Unit (MOPU) and FSO.

Midwest Vanadium Windamurra: LOGIC Services has been given the opportunity through the mutually beneficial relationship with Intellect Systems to work alongside PinC Project Management in overseeing the electrical construction contractor (EC&M) and commissioning the vanadium mine site. The project and LOGIC responsibilities lay in the following key components: crushing and benefication plant, 96 meter long gas fired 1200 degrees celcius kiln, desilication plant, filter press, flash dryer kiln, two reduction kilns, and a 30,000 ampere DC arc furnace. The DC arc furnace holds special significance as it is the first in Australia and also the world’s first on an island site. The major milestones that LOGIC has to overcome are completing and operating the furnace and smelting steel as a test prior to vanadium being available (see photo below) as well as completing the magnetite and kiln circuit and firing of the kiln and flash dryer.

Business Development

Director Michael Jarvis has once again been raking up the air miles attending meetings and conferences in Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Nigeria, and Kazakhstan reinforcing LOGIC’s premium quality reputation and high HSE performance with existing and potential clients. This has resulted in the generation of leads with some of the largest resource projects in Western Australia as well as some major international oil and gas projects.
