The Egg Digester is part of the Woodman Point Waste Water Treatment Plant (WPWWTP). LOGIC Services began the Electrical and Instrumentation works on the Egg Digester in May 2010 and this part of the project is nearing completion. The LOGIC Services team at the WPWWTP project have sent us a series of photos to show the development of the Egg Digester over the last three months.
The function of the Egg Shaped Digester
Woodman Point Waste Water Treatment Plant (WPWWTP) uses the high rate anaerobic digestion process to reduce the volume of wastewater sludge produced. Sludge from the main plant is added in batches to the Egg Shaped Digester, in which the temperature is maintained at above 35 degrees Celsius. Micro-organisms consume the nutrients within the sludge which in turn produces stabilised bio-solids and methane gas as a by-product.

As we approach the second decade of 21st century, our world is becoming increasingly interconnected and more complex. A seemingly insignificant event in the far reaches of the globe may have considerable impact on our lives and our business. As LOGIC Services expands from its base of operations in Perth, we are exposing ourselves and our employees to a greater scale and scope of threats and risks.
Naturally, employee safety and security is LOGIC Services primary concern. In order to mitigate and manage the associated security risks of growth and international expansion, we require access to as much information as possible. Generally speaking, the security environment is threat-led. The aim as such is to pre-empt threats by putting preventative measures in place which naturally depend on the accuracy of tactical and strategic forecasts which in turn depend on the reliability of intelligence. This supply chain of information has various vulnerabilities. Thus, in certain environments such as the Middle East and Africa, security measures are reactive in nature. In order to make sure, all our employees are as secure as possible, we ask you to provide head office with any information you think may impact on you or your colleagues. We appreciate your help in this matter as it will contribute to your overall safety and security.

LOGIC Services have been running a competition as part of an awareness campaign that highlights the importance of safety. The competition began in April and will close at 5pm on 31 May 2010.
This competition is open to anyone who is interested in participating. You will need to email your photo to admin@logicservices.com.au before the deadline to ensure that you are in the running to win $200 cash. The winner will also receive a framed copy of their photograph.
Safety awareness is essential in any workplace and LOGIC Services have offered this prize to encourage their employees to think about safety, recognise safe working practices and to use this as an example of best working practice within the electrical industry that encourages communication within the workplace.
The following photos have been submitted from our employees as part of this awareness campaign.
Good luck!
LOGIC Services is pleased to have been able to respond to a request from Maersk Copenhagen for assistance with production of Emergency Response Plans for their FPSO Peregrino currently undergoing conversion/upgrade work at a yard in Singapore.
LOGIC’s specialised brief was to produce a set of simplified layouts, graphically depicting various ‘Emergency Response’ offshore/onshore scenarios in support of the vessels emergency response procedures being produced by Maersk at their Copenhagen headquarters.
With nearly 20 years oil & gas industry experience revolving around technical graphics, simplified P&ID’s, deck/safety plans and technical documentation/procedures, LOGIC’s Kevin Connell was tasked with being the focal point for this safety critical support work. Liaising directly with the Project Manager in Copenhagen, Kevin’s expertise ensured an effective and efficient response to Maersk’s specific requirements with all tasks completed and returned to the Client within schedule and budget.
Director, Michael Jarvis of LOGIC Services recently attended the OTC (Offshore Technology Conference) Exhibition in Houston, USA.
Penelope Williamson from AmCham (the American Chamber of Commerce) coordinated the entire adventure with 33 delegates from Australia representing a range of industry associates within the local market. When asked to describe his experience, Mike said “This is one of the most amazing experiences because OTC was enormous with over 70,000 people attending. We had a great bunch of people in our group and it was an honour to be a part of one of the world’s largest industry events”.
Mike and his fellow travel partners have kindly shared a few of their photos from their journey. (Editors note: At least networking is still considered an important part of working…).
A review and update will feature in our next newsletter released later in June.
